What do we do?
“Nanopinturas is a Spanish company dedicated to the research and development of nano-biotechnological coatings for various industries. Our specialization and extensive experience in nanotechnology allow us to offer eco-friendly coatings that are environmentally sustainable and come with a wide range of properties that enhance the longevity of our solutions. We synthesize nano materials in gel form through the hydrolysis of a precursor solution, typically a metal alkoxide. With over two decades of continuous growth and unparalleled expertise in both the national and international markets, Nanopinturas enables us to provide environmentally conscious, highly efficient, and top-performing solutions that safeguard our environment. Our significant background in surface finishes positions us as the ideal partner for the development and production of nano materials and coatings in the market.
How we do it?
Nanopinturas main focus consists on the development of paints and coatings composed of nanometric three-dimensional networks containing nanoparticles. Nanoparticles are extremely small particles with dimensions ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. These particles possess unique properties that distinguish them from larger particles, such as a larger surface area and greater chemical reactivity. This technology equips us with nano coatings, hybrid nano coatings, and organic and inorganic nano coatings, all of which enhance the performance of coatings.
For who is it for?
Nanopinturas find applications across various industries, including automotive, construction, aerospace, transportation, marine, hospitality, architecture, and more. Nanopinturas offer properties such as corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and weather resistance. They can also enhance paint adhesion to surfaces and improve optical properties, such as reflectance and transparency, along with photoactive or photocatalytic capabilities.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Nanopinturas provides customized services for projects of interest, tailoring the physical and/or chemical properties of coatings to improve efficiency and shorten the adoption timeline for this technology. Our surface finishing products serve as a distinctive tool for setting your product apart from others in the market, granting you a clear and defined competitive edge within your industry.”
NUESTA HISTORIA
In 2004, after winning the Balearic Innovation Award, Nanopinturas established its presence at the business incubator of the Balearic Islands, ParcBit.
In 2007, Nanopinturas inaugurated new headquarters at the European Innovation Center, located in the Actur Industrial Park in the university area and CESIC. Between 2007 and 2011, Nanopinturas embarked on several applied research projects, one of which was a successful collaboration with Boeing Research & Technology as part of the CDTI’s NACAR project. This four-year collaboration, involving numerous coating formulations tested under ISO standards, provided valuable expertise in nanostructures, resulting in a range of nano coatings ranging from 0.5 to 15 microns with superhydrophobic and photocatalytic effects.”
In 2012, Nanopinturas embarked on new research projects in collaboration with INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology) for the development of high-temperature corrosion-resistant coatings in partnership with Endesa. In the ceramic sector, in collaboration with Quimicer, we developed new photocatalytic coatings for ventilated facades. In 2013, Nanopinturas expanded its research team to further develop these innovative solutions for the industry and inaugurated larger facilities in Zaragoza.
Proyecto nacar CDTI
Members of the Research consortium project with Boeing Research & Technology in collaboration with INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology), partially funded by CDTI (Center for Industrial Technological Development), for the development of superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic photocatalytic nano coatings for aircraft exteriors aimed at reducing maintenance, cleaning, and enhancing appearance.”.
In 2016, Nanopinturas initiated a new collaboration with CIEMAT as part of the European project Life Minox Street, aimed at improving air quality in cities through the use of photoactive coatings that break down pollution into inert materials. In 2019, Nanopinturas inaugurated a new industrial facility spanning over a thousand square meters dedicated to research and development (R&D).
Project EU Life Minox Street
CIEMAT tested 350 photocatalytic solutions from the international and European markets through the European Union-funded Life Minox Street project. Our organization achieved first and second place in solutions with the highest reactivity. Having the most efficient products in the global market would not be possible without our ongoing focus on research and innovation. Today, our team of scientists and engineers continues to work to further increase the efficiency of our products and address even the most niche sectors.

AIF Iberian Association of Photocatalysis The AIF intends to bring together all the companies that provide photocatalytic construction materials, with the aim of implementing the concept of THE PHOTOCATALYTIC ISLAND within the large polluted cities. The AIF presents a citizen-friendly alternative to other measures that are coercive, collaborating with the Public Administration, as well as other associations and entities that provide solutions to pollution through photocatalysis.
¿Did you Know?
Applying 10 m2 of Fotoactiva 36 is equivalent to a tree with a surface area of 15 m but eliminates 20 times more dangerous pollution (NOX) than a surface area of 100 m2.
By painting 100 square meters with Fotoactiva 36 we can eliminate the pollution produced by 14 gasoline vehicles or 5 vehicles or 3 diesel buses.
By painting with Fotoactiva 49, the need for daily disinfection and the associated staff & chemical product costs are completely eliminated, saving your organisation both time and money whilst being kinder to the planet.
We help you to protect your community from air pollution, viruses and bacteria with our state-of-the-art range of self-sanitizing paints & coatings. Active surfaces clean your air continuously, preventing the proliferation of pathogens.
